“The Bosco Basketball program is incredibly excited to have the opportunity to represent the Braves Community again this year. We look forward to building off last years CIF Semifinal run as we again compete in the states most competitive league, the Trinity. The excitement for this years team is high as we return all five starters and many younger players who all gained valuable Varsity experience last year. We wish the other Braves sports the best of luck this year, and look forward to getting back on the court.” - Coach Matt Dunn

Head Coach - Matt Dunn
“We at Bosco are excited to bring in a leader for the basketball program that possesses a demonstrated ability to be successful on the court as well as a notable dedication to the formation and development of his players as persons. These qualities are consistent with St. John Bosco’s Salesian Mission, and make Coach Dunn an exciting fit for our school,” said Principal Casey Yeazel.
Coach Dunn began his Coaching Career as an Assistant at St Augustine High School in San Diego, where he helped lead the Saints to 3 straight state playoff appearances. He was then a head coach at Villanova Prep for 2 years, before moving to Damien High School in La Verne, where he was the head coach for the twelve years. Over that period, Coach Dunn led the Damien basketball program to new heights – recording 129 wins over his last five years, winning a Division 3A CIF Southern Section Championship in 2013, and a CIF Division III State Championship in 2015. Coach Dunn was recently named the CalHiSports Division III State Basketball Coach of the Year.
In his first year at St. John Bosco High School, Coach Dunn led the Braves to tournament championships in the El Monte Tournament as well as the prestigious Maxpreps Tournament including a championship game win over future state champion Harvard Westlake. Other key wins on the season were against CIF finalist Bonita HS, Chaminade, Village Christian, JSerra and two wins against Servite in the Trinity League. The Braves advanced to the semifinals of Division 1AA, losing to eventual champion JW North from Riverside.
Coach Dunn currently lives in Glendora with his wife Joy. They have three children Kylie (13), Justin (11) and Dominic (8).
