Mr. Jack Hastert

Week seven went well as our varsity posted their first two qualifying scores of the season and the JV picked up a nice win at the very difficult Arroyo Trabuco course. Now we get a week off for Easter vacation before we hit the home stretch. All of us in the SJB golf program would like to wish all of you a very happy and holy Easter with your friends and family and please keep us in your prayers.

Monday, 4/10:

Varsity: vs. J. Serra at Arroyo Trabuco J. Serra – 192 SJB – 234

J. Serra always plays well at their home course which is a par 36. It is a difficult course if you don't know it, with lateral hazards on every hole and lots of brush out there. Ivan was the only one we had who played better than bogey golf on this day.

Aguilar-44, Bernal-46, Cabot-48, Kennedy-47, Liu-52, Marshall-55, Munoz-49

JV: vs. J. Serra(2) at Arroyo Trabuco J. Serra – 278 SJB – 271

This time the golf course proved to be a handful for both teams but Zach was able to post a 50 and lead the Braves to a nice win.

Alexander-57, Barrera-72, Catzalco-61, Flores-51, Kim-52, Lacey-69, Sandstrom-50

FS: vs. Servite at Los Amigos Servite – 229 SJB – 247

For the first time we can ever recall Los Amigos put us out on the back 9, which is par 35, rather than the front nine so we lost a little of our home course advantage. Matt at 11 over and Noah at 12 over did well for the Braves. Emmanuel tied his 2nd best score of the season but it was not enough for us to beat the Friars.

DeJesus-50, Jativa-52, Lin-68, Medina-54, Moreno-52, Ruiz-46, Smith-47

Tuesday, 4/11:

Varsity: vs. Santa Margarita at Los Amigos S. Margarita – 181 SJB – 210

Santa Margarita shot one over par as a team and that was too much for us to handle even though we shot our best team score of the season and got our first CIF qualifying score of the season. Unfortunately you need at least 8 qualifying scores to have a chance to go to the CIF tournament so we won't be going this season but with all our varsity golfers set to return next year we are looking good for the 2018 season. Ivan shot his low round of the season to lead us, including birdies on both of the par 5s, Marcus tied his low of the season to be next, and Will and Daniel tied their low rounds of the season as well. Will actually shot a 41 but signed for a par instead of a birdie on the last hole so he had to accept a 42.

Aguilar-39, Bernal-46, Cabot-40, Flores-48, Kennedy-42, Liu-43, Munoz-49

Wednesday, 4/12:

Varsity: vs. Mater Dei at Los Amigos Mater Dei – 182 SJB – 209

Again we shot our best score of the season but Mater Dei shot two over par as a team and they left their 3 best scoring players at home. Marcus with another 4 over par round led the way and he had two birdies as well. Ivan was at 5 over, Christian tied his best round of the season and played the last 4 holes in one under par, Nick had his 2nd best nine hole round of the season, and Daniel again tied his best round at 7 over.

Aguilar-41, Bernal-43, Cabot-40, Flores-49, Kennedy-43, Liu-43, Munoz-42

JV: vs. Wilson at Recreation Park – 2:30 Wilson – 222 SJB – 263

Recreation Park with its fast, slick greens has always been a tough place for our lower levels to play. James and Daniel led the way for us at 13 over par against an always strong Wilson team.

Alexander-50, Catzalco-68, De Jesus-53, Kim-49, Lacey-66, Marshall-49, Sandstrom-62
