Academic Decathlon

At Bosco, Academic Decathlon is more than just competition — it’s a journey of discovery, friendship, and personal growth.

St. John Bosco High School’s Academic Decathlon Team provides students with an opportunity to engage in rigorous academic competition while developing critical thinking, teamwork, and communication skills. Competing in various events locally and abroad in The World Scholar's Cup program, our team is challenged across a range of subjects — from literature and science to social studies and the arts. The World Scholar’s Cup offers an exciting, global platform where students debate, write, and collaborate with peers from around the world, immersing themselves in diverse topics and cultures. At Bosco, Academic Decathlon is more than just competition — it’s a journey of discovery, friendship, and personal growth.

The Latest

Bosco Academic Decathlon is shining on the world stage! Our team had the incredible opportunity to travel to Yale University for the World Scholar’s Cup Tournament of Champions in November, and they represented our school with excellence among hundreds of schools from around the globe.

Seniors Josue Sanchez and Ben Garza earned an impressive 27 medals, including 13 golds and 19 silvers. Alongside their Saint Joseph High School teammate, Julia Scalas, they placed 14th overall out of more than 500 teams. Josue was ranked 43rd overall scholar, and Ben secured 91st—truly a proud moment for Bosco!

A big thank you to our new head coach, Mr. Hernandez, for leading the charge and starting an exciting new chapter for Bosco Academic Decathlon. We’re so proud of how our students showcased their tremendous gifts and represented our school and our sister school on such a big stage.
