St. John Bosco High School's Residential Program at De Sales Hall was founded on the premise that young men from all across the nation and globe should have access to a rich education at St. John Bosco High School. Located in the De Sales Hall right next door to the school, the program offers the best opportunity for both domestic and international students to be immersed in the life of the school. The residential program is not just a place for students to live, but a place for them to learn and continually grow. We are proud of the enrichment opportunities that students get to experience, including constant mentorship, immersion in English, tutoring and academic support, social and emotional support, and a stable environment wherein they feel equipped to be the best version of themselves. Combining St. John Bosco High School’s rigorous curriculum with the De Sales Hall living experience, students have access to highly-specialized college preparatory education in a supportive and encouraging environment.

De Sales Hall welcomes students from all backgrounds, regardless of faith tradition or country of origin. In order to be considered for residence in the Residential Program at De Sales Hall, the De Sales Hall Enrollment Packet must be completed. Be advised that the Enrollment Packet cannot be submitted and reviewed until the student's acceptance into St. John Bosco High School has been confirmed.

The De Sales Hall admission process follows the St. John Bosco High School admission schedule, which is now in rolling admissions. Decisions are made until dorm capacity is reached, at which time a waiting list is established.

De Sales Hall is managed by our trusted partners, Lartin Brothers Education, a CSIET certified student management services company that is experienced in providing excellent student care for students living abroad. The residential hall is staffed with trained student care professionals who live in De Sales Hall and work closely with faculty and staff at St. John Bosco High School in order to curate the best possible experience for our students. They provide 24-hour care and supervision for all student needs.

Life in the Dorm

More than just a simple dorm, St. John Bosco High School's Residential Program at De Sales Hall is a place where students from all over the world can gather and be a part of a community. Following the tradition of our school, the Bosco Brotherhood is strong in De Sales Hall. Students care for and spend time with each other in a place where they can continue to grow as students, friends, and leaders. This is evident in the daily life at De Sales Hall, as well as in the weekend and holiday activities. Students can enjoy all of the best parts of Los Angeles, including the beach, professional sports games, famous landmarks, and a vibrant city culture.

Residential Dining

We commit to the easy access of nutritious and appetizing food.

The dining facilities at the residence hall strive to provide culturally diverse foods and carefully craft appetizing and dynamic menus that serve any students’ tastes. Our dining facilities accommodate any dietary restrictions, requirements, and concerns. Students can meet with dining hall or residence staff to discuss meal planning and receive advice on choosing healthy and balanced options that are also appetizing and satisfying.

English Language Immersion & International Studies

The De Sales Residential Hall offers exceptional individualized attention and English language support for international students. The De Sales Hall invites international students to partake in an extensive English Language Immersion program, creating the ideal environment for cultural exposure and language acquisition. Bosco celebrates international students, believing that global dialogue is vital and enriching. The De Sales Residential program will provide global students with supplementary tutoring and mentorship, mitigating the stresses of acclimating to an unfamiliar sociocultural environment.

Transportation

Efficient travel is necessary to every Bosco student. Enrolled students need to navigate between music lessons, internships, sporting events, and other commitments. To accommodate international travel, airport pickup and drop-off are provided with the program. Shuttles will transport small groups of students to and from appointments, school activities, or school-sponsored sports.

Travel & Cultural Immersion

Educational and recreational trips are encouraged, planned, and supported by our teams. The De Sales Residential Program provides college tours, where students visit campuses, network with professors and administrators, and meet current students who will share their experiences and knowledge. Cultural excursions, including musical performances, historical tours, and trips into local communities allow students to witness the world and diversity around them, broadening their curiosity and wonder. Outdoor adventures will create opportunities for exercise through treks into surrounding landscapes, travel to beaches, and hiking. The program also encourages relaxation on weekend trips to the movies, shopping centers, carnivals and other local events. All of this adds to the academic experience and supplements students through social, cultural, and recreational engagement.

Academic Support

Services
The De Sales Boarding Program will grant access to a variety of specialized services and academic help. Tutors and mentors will be made available to students who require it. School and dorm staff dedicate extra hours to work alongside international students, ensuring every child feels prepared and capable of rising to academic challenges. The boarding program also encourages students to accompany St. Bosco on college tours, leadership events, guest lectures, and networking opportunities. Our dedicated staff remains committed to aiding students in any way possible, guaranteeing that no one feels left behind.

Study Hall
The De Sales Residential Hall maintains a mandatory study hall period for all residents from Sunday through Thursday. This guarantees that students dedicate time to their schoolwork and remain committed to their academics. This time allows students to ask questions and seek help for any and all academic concerns. Study Halls keep our students on task and supervise their efforts.

Security

Our facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art technology that allows us to prevent any risk to our students’ safety and ensure that they feel at home. Our hall contains a security service that automatically notifies local authorities in case any disturbance is recorded by the system. This guarantees 24 hour surveillance and consistent monitoring of the residential hall.

Beyond our surveillance systems, the hall is staffed by full-time personnel with a broad range of student support and accommodation services. The staff is available 24/7 to mitigate any student concerns and supervise the living areas. Since safety is our top concern, our systems and staff ensure that students are supervised and kept safe under all circumstances.
