why all boys
For nearly 80 years, Bosco has been the leader in all-male college preparatory education in Southern California. Bosco’s teachers and coaches form meaningful relationships with their students; our students are known personally and belong to a supportive community.
Why It Works
St. John Bosco’s Oratory Model of Home, School, Church, Playground, coupled with the all-male educational environment, creates an interactive experience for our students where they can truly be themselves. Bosco’s faculty use teaching strategies that address learning styles specific to boys. Read more about all the benefits of all-boys education from the International Boys’ Schools Coalition.
St. John Bosco High School enjoys a special relationship with Saint Joseph High School, a Catholic all-girls school in Lakewood. Known as our "Sister School," Saint Joseph School interacts with St. John Bosco throughout the school year as students gather for numerous special events, dances, theatrical productions, band, color guard and more. This dynamic has been an important tradition for several decades.
"Attending an all-boys high school helped me stay focused in the classroom and on the football field. I’ve made incredible friendships with my Bosco brothers."
