the bosco difference
At St. John Bosco, we accompany every student through his formative journey to manhood, creating bonds that last a lifetime. The young man who chooses St. John Bosco High School is challenged by a school which offers him opportunities to develop his “whole person” – growing spiritually, intellectually, socially, culturally, and physically.
This Salesian approach to education creates a welcoming school environment where every young man can become something greater than himself.
"It all comes down to the system we have at Bosco. The teachers are here for you and are really easy to talk to. They want you to succeed."

It’s a term our students use frequently on campus. “The Bosco Brotherhood” refers to the deep sense of camaraderie our students experience with each other, resulting in strong, supportive friendships. And, because these friendships are so valued, they continue long after graduation. Many of our alumni remain close and continue to be integral members of the St. John Bosco community.
All Bosco students complete a rigorous college preparatory curriculum designed to exceed the entrance requirements set by the University of California and California State University systems, as well as other prestigious universities. In 2019, 96 percent of graduates were accepted to a four-year university. Recent graduates are studying at some of the finest universities in the nation, including Princeton, Notre Dame, UCLA, Georgetown, UC Berkeley, MIT, Stanford and USC. In fact, five members of the Class of 2019 are continuing their studies at Ivy League colleges and universities.
Our faculty and staff consists of 104 men and women, most of whom hold advanced professional degrees. All faculty and staff engage in ongoing professional development. In addition, half of our faculty has been teaching for more than 10 years, comprised of 15 Alumni who continue to redefine Saint John Bosco’s ideals: “Education is a Matter of the Heart.”
St. John Bosco High School competes in the Trinity League, recognized as the most competitive league in California. Bosco offers 13 CIF-sponsored sports comprised of 40 separate teams, plus two club sports. Nearly 80 percent of our student population participates in one or more of our sports, and eight of our 13 CIF-sponsored sports are “non-cut,” giving all students an opportunity to participate.
Our mission is to form young men of purpose focused on faith, intellect, leadership and citizenship. While the majority of Bosco students and faculty are Catholic, all major world religions are represented in the school. We welcome and respect all faiths and the school community is one that reflects tolerance, global concern, love and understanding among all students, parents, teachers, administrators and alumni.
