SJB Golf Weekly Recap - Week of April 15, 2019
Since this is Holy Week we had a far less busy schedule than normal. We did end up with 7 matches throughout the program, however, so we were still playing plenty of golf. Here are our results for week 8.
Varsity:vs. Warren at Los Amigos
We shot our best round of the season on this day par 36 Los Amigos – our home course. Ivan and Matthew both shot their best nine hole rounds of the season at one over par with each one having only one bogey. Marcus also played well at 3 over including going one under for the final 3 holes and Daniel had his 2ndbest round of the season. Thanks to Josh for filling in last minute.
Aguilar-37, Cabot-39, De Jesus-43, Ebalo-49, Ingram-37, Liu-41, Ruiz-43
JV 1:vs. Poly at Recreation Park
A very nice win for our JV 1 team at par 36 Recreation Park, a venue we have sometimes struggled at in the past. This was especially nice considering our 2 players with the lowest scoring averages were not available on this day. Thank you to Javi for filling in last minute. Dante led us at 12 over par. Tommy hung in there competing even with an injured hand.
Capitan-51, Cuevas-53, Fierro-55, Lin-56, Moreno-52, Park-51, Terramani-48
JV 2: vs. Servite at Brea Creek
In a makeup match from a rainout earlier in the season we played at par 29 Brea Creek and could not quite keep up with the Friars. Matt E. came up with his best score of the season with a team leading 18 over par. Luke helped us out by filling in at last minute and having our 2nd best score of the day and Jesse and John B. played well for us also.
Burnett-56, Enriquez-47, Gutierrez-52, Kunkel-48, Neville-49, Smith-51, Williams-55
JV 1:vs. Mater Dei at Los Amigos
Mater Dei shot the best JV score of the season against us on this day and we only had 6 players so it was tough. We had some good rounds with Daniel leading the way at 9 over and Eric shot his best round of the season by 4 shots!! Javi filled in for the 2ndconsecutive day.
Capitan-51, Cuevas-47, Ebalo-47, Kim-45, Moreno-53, Terramani-46
JV 2:vs. Mater Dei at David L. Baker
At par 31 David L. Baker we did not play our best. Jackson was our leader at 16 over par and Jesse shot 17 over par – his best this season by 2 strokes. J Ryan and Matt (thanks for filling in at the last minute) tied their 2nd best scores of the season. Ryan had his 2nd best score of the season.
Burnett-56, Enriquez-50, Kunkel-49, Neville-48, Pool-57, Smith-47, Williams-57
Varsity: vs. Santa Margarita at Los Amigos
We would have needed our best score of the season by 2 shots win this match and on this windy day we could not do it. We did achieve a CIF qualifying score, however, which gives us 10 for the season, our best total since the 2015 season. Michael had the best round of his SJB career at 3 over par to lead us and Ivan was next at 4 over.
Aguilar-40, Cabot-41, De Jesus-39, Ingram-41, Liu-45, Medina-48, Ruiz-45
JV 2: vs. Santa Margarita at Los Amigos
We battled but it was not enough to get the win. Javi got back to the JV 2 team and led us at 11 over par. Thank you to Anthony who filled in at last minute. And he tied his 2nd best score in all 3 of his rounds this week. Luke and Ryan shot their 2nd best rounds of the season as well.
Capitan-47, Chiarelli-56, Gutierrez-56, Kunkel-49, Pool-61, Smith-62, Williams-62
Have a blessed week,
Head Golf Coach
Class of 1970
SJB Weekly Golf Results: Week of 2/25
Welcome to another year of St. John Bosco High School Golf. We have 27 student-athletes in the program this season. As you can see we are very heavy with juniors and seniors. Having said that, though, 10 of our golfers are in their first year in the program. Clearly some of our students are figuring it out after they have been at Bosco for awhile and interacted with some of our golfers, that golf is a pretty enjoyable sport to play. So we welcome the newcomers but we hope in future years to attract more freshmen and sophomores to the program so they can enjoy golf for a longer period of time and they also have more time to develop into better players.
We hope you enjoy our weekly results. Keep us in your prayers. Thank you for your support of the SJB golf team and its’ players.
Obviously, many of our players are inexperienced but we are having an enjoyable time and the players are working to improve. Unfortunately, right out of the gate we had a number of players sick and injured during the first week of the season so we had to play a number of our matches shorthanded. Given that situation we did pretty well in our first week.
So here we go and we hope you enjoy our season as much as we intend to:
Varsity:vs. La Mirada at Los Coyotes
We started off shooting 12 strokes better than we did in our first match last season. Par 35 Los Coyotes is a tough course and it was a very cold and slightly windy day. We did well but it is a sign of our improvement that we were disappointed with our scores and we plan to do better in the future. Ivan led the way with 4 pars and shot 6 over par and Michael and Marcus playing together in the 2ndgroup each shot 7 over with Michael having a birdie and Marcus having two of them. Josh and Matthew both played in their 1stSJB varsity match. J
Aguilar-41, Cabot-42, De Jesus-42, Ebalo-55, Ingram-44, Medina-44, Ruiz-52
JV 1:vs. Servite (Lifetime) at Los Amigos
A number of Servite players got sick so they were unable to come to this day’s match
FS/JV 2:vs. Cerritos at Los Amigos
We had our first match of the season at our home course, Los Amigos, which is par 36. We had a number of players ill or injured so we were only able to play 6 players. And for five of them it was their first match ever for the SJB golf program. And for a couple it was their first 9 holes ever on a big golf course. Considering all that we did pretty well. Jackson led the way at 16 over par and George followed closely with a 20 over score.
Burnett-63, Gutierrez-56, Kunkel-58, Neville-66, Pool-69, Smith-52
Varsity: vs. Warren at Rio Hondo
We did not play too well and escaped by the skin of our teeth. Matthew and Marcus led us at 6 over par. Warren’s top player shot 3 over but our superior depth helped us get the win. Marcus, Matthew, and Michael all had one birdie in the round but every player had at least one double bogey and we had too many triples and quads that raised our scores. We will have to do better in the future. It was almost dark when we finished.
Aguilar-45, Cabot-42, De Jesus-43, Ebalo-55, Ingram-42, Medina-46, Ruiz-47
JV 1:vs. Mater Dei at Willowick
In our Trinity League opener we did okay. Once again we only had 6 players as some guys could not make the match. That definitely hurt us. The two Daniels were our low scores at 11 over par and both of them thought they could have played better.
Capitan-56, Kim-46, Liu-46, Moreno-46, Salas-53, Terramani-56
FS/JV 2:vs. Millikan at Los Amigos
Again we had only 6 players as injuries and illness hurt us again. We did improve by a couple shot though. Luke improved by 4 shots from yesterday and John improved by 7 to lead the Braves along with Jackson who was 19 over. Anthony played his first match ever for SJB.
Burnett-56, Cuevas-59, Kunkel-54, Neville-68, Smith-55, Williams-70
Varsity:Ontario Christian Tournament at El Prado 7thout of 23 teams
We had one of our best tournament finishes in recent memory, especially considering not one of our players had ever played this par 72 course before. There were 138 players in the tournament and Matthew finished tied for 7th. Ivan and Marcus had their best rounds of the season and of any tournament they have played in for Bosco. And Matt R. had his best round ever in the 3 years he has been playing golf for SJB. Unfortunately, he signed an incorrect scorecard and was disqualified but he showed exemplary sportsmanship. He actually pointed out the incorrect score to the committee. His actions and class reflected really well on Bosco and what SJB stands for.
Aguilar-78, Cabot-80, De Jesus-87, Ingram-74, Medina-96, Ruiz-83 (DQ)
FS:vs. Servite(2) at Los Amigos
Maybe our 3rdmatch of the week was too much or maybe the illness and injuries caught up with us as once again we had only 6 players. Thanks to John B. for filling in at the last minute. Jackson had our low score again at 23 over but Anthony, Ryan, and Jesse all improved their scores from earlier in the week.
Burnett-62, Kunkel-64, Neville-61, Pool-64, Smith-59, Williams-69
SJB Golf Results: Week of 3/4
Week 2 was difficult due to all the rain which necessitated postponing and moving matches and not being able to practice. In addition to that, the funeral for our beloved band director, Mr. Fabiero was on Tuesday. But we pressed on.
JV 1:vs. Cerritos at Navy Course
We lost a close one at the par 31 Navy Cruiser course. Gilbert and Dante had their best rounds so far and Tommy and Valley played their first matches of the season. Josh was our low man at 12 over par. Preston sank a 40 foot putt from off the green for a birdie on the first hole. Once again we were hurt by only having 6 players.
Ebalo-43, Fierro-49, Lin-46, Park-45, Salas-48, Terramani-44
JV 2:vs. Whittier Christian at Candlewood C.C. W. Christian – 307 SJB – 298
Our new players picked up their first win of the season at the very difficult par 35 Candlewood Country Club. Eric was our low scorer at 20 over par and Javi was 21 over in his first JV2 match as we all struggled on this tough course. But the other team did too so we were able to pull out the win.
Burnett-61, Capitan-56, Cuevas-55, Gutierrez-65, Kunkel-63, Pool-67, Smith-61
This was a rainy day and school was cancelled so people could attend Mr. Fabiero’s funeral. Let’s continue to pray for him and his family. Varsity was supposed to play Servite today and Servite was kind enough to reschedule for us.
Varsity: vs. Lakewood at Skylinks
JV 2:vs. Servite at Los Amigos
Varsity: vs. Servite at Western Hills
Par 36 Western Hills was wet and muddy so the ball hardly rolled at all. The greens had just been aerated so there were bumps all over and it was hard to get the ball to roll straight. Just for some extra fun it was also cold with an arctic wind. We did not have a single birdie but actually scored fairly well considering the conditions. Given all that, Marcus still had his best 9 hole round of the season and led us at 4 over par. Daniel did okay in his first varsity match.
Aguilar-49, Cabot-40, De Jesus-49, Ingram-42, Liu-48, Medina-55, Ruiz-54
JV 1:vs. Lakewood at Skylinks
JV 1 picked up their first win of the season on this tough day. We got the win even though we only had six players again. Dante led the way at 10 over par, Josh had his low round of the season and Preston and Daniel tied theirs to help us win. Thank you to Preston for subbing in for injured players.
Ebalo-47, Kim-47, Lin-47, Park-50, Salas-69, Terramani-46
JV 2:vs. Los Alamitos at Navy Base
At the par 35 Cruiser course our beginning golfers gained some valuable experience. Again the conditions were not great so although we didn’t play our best we hung in there. Christian and Matt got to play in their first ever golf matches for SJB and Anthony improved by 6 shots over his previous best. Luke had our low score on this day at 19 over par.
Bode-58, Enriquez-58, Gutierrez-56, Kunkel-50, Neville-59, Smith-51, Williams-58
SJB Golf Results: Week of 3/11
Week 3 was cold and wet at the beginning but the weather got nicer as we went along. We were in a couple tournaments which was fun and our less experienced players got to play in 3 matches. Here we go.
Varsity: in Linfield Christian Tournament at Cross Creek 5th out of 9 teams
We shot a team score of 445 at par 71 Cross Creek. We had to be at school at 6:00 a.m. for a 9:00 tournament and when we got there they told us that they had forgot to let us know the tournament start was changed to 10:00. And it was about 48 degrees with a strong Arctic wind coming in. So conditions were difficult but we hung in there. The winning score was 5 over par so conditions were tough. Marcus finished tied for 9thand Matthew was 13th.
Aguilar-89, Cabot-81, De Jesus-98, Ingram-82, Liu-95, Ruiz-101
JV 1: in Servite Tournament at Western Hills
Par 72 Western Hills is always a tough place to play. There were a lot of high scores in this tournament on a cold and wet day in Chino Hills. Daniel was out low scorer for the day.
Ebalo-101, Kim-95, Lin-123, Medina-103, Salas-127, Terramani-107
JV 2: vs. St. Anthony at Lakewood
Lakewood is a long course and our new players had a difficult time on this day. On this par 36 9 hole layout Javi had our best score at 18 over par.
Bode-72, Capitan-54, Enriques-65, Kunkel-55, Pool-71, Smith-57, Williams-71
Varsity: vs. Mater Dei at Willowick
Par 35 Willowick might be the easiest course we will play this season and Mater Dei took advantage of that by shooting 2 under par as a team. Matthew’s 1 over par round led us with his best match score of the season so far and Marcus and Matt R. also had their best rounds to this point. That helped us achieve our 2ndqualifying score of the season. We need 6 more to qualify for a possible CIF tournament berth.
Aguilar-41, Cabot-38, De Jesus-43, Ingram-36, Liu-45, Medina-48, Ruiz-42
JV 1: vs. Servite (lifetime) at Brea Creek
JV 2: vs. Servite (1) at Los Amigos
Javi and George both shot their best rounds of the season at our home course and John had one of his best as well as our beginners continue to get better. Than you to Matt for filling in for someone who could not play.
Burnett-58, Capitan-51, Enriquez-65, Gutierrez-56, Neville-66, Pool-71, Williams-65
Thursday, 3/14: MASS FOR TEAM MEMBERS/SCHOOL CHAPEL – 7:20 a.m.
JV 1: vs. Mater Dei(Lifetime) at Los Amigos
This was our best match of the season even though we played a man down. This was our lowest team score at Los Amigos. Daniel led the way at 7 over par but he was not the only one who had his best round of the season. He along with Trevor, Preston, Gilbert, and Dante all had their best rounds of the season. Guess the warmer weather agrees with us. Thanks also to Dante for filling in at the last minute.
Ebalo-49, Kim-43, Moreno-47, Park-46, Salas-53, Terramani-44
JV 2: vs. Servite (2) at Brea Creek
At par 29 Brea Creek Javi, Jesse, and Matt all had their best rounds of the season in relation to par but it was not enough to beat the Friars. Javi had our low score at 11 over par. The good news is we keep getting better. Again we played a man down because 3 guys could not make it. Thank you to Matt E. for filling in today.
Bode-58, Burnett-56, Capitan-40, Enriquez-52, Neville-52, Smith-48
Week of March 18, 2019
This was quite a week for the Braves. We won a match, shot our lowest team score of the season, and were winning another match when we got caught in the first hail storm our golf team has ever encountered and had to get off the course for everyone’s safety. In addition, four members of our golf program (Eric, Valley, George, and Tommy) competed this past weekend in the World Scholar’s Cup as part of the SJB Academic Decathlon team. Needless to say – we are proud of them. Here are our results for week 4.
Varsity: vs. L. B. Poly at Los Coyotes
We did not play our best on this day but it was enough to get the win. Matt Ingram led the way at 3 over par but Matt Ruiz was our only other player to play better than bogey golf at par 35 Los Coyotes.
Aguilar-44, Cabot-46, De Jesus-47, Ingram-38, Liu-48, Medina-48, Ruiz-43
JV 1: vs. L.B. Wilson at Los Amigos
Wilson played better than most varsity teams and got the win because of it. Preston had his best score ever as a Brave at 4 over par. Dante and Josh had their best scores of the season as well and Gilbert beat his best by 6 strokes.
Ebalo-46, Fierro-58, Lin-53, Moreno-54, Park-40, Salas-54, Terramani-43
Varsity: vs. J. Serra at Los Amigos
J. Serra shot two under par as a team and we could not keep up with that. Daniel had his best round of the year by 8 strokes (and 10 shots better than yesterday) as he and Matthew led our team with rounds of 10 over par. Ivan had his best 9 hole round of the season and Marcus tied his best.
Aguilar-39, Cabot-39, De Jesus-45, Ingram-38, Liu-38, Medina-47, Ruiz-44
JV 1: vs. J. Serra at Los Amigos
We shot 3 strokes worse than yesterday and that was not good enough to beat the Lions. Josh shot his best round of the season by 3 strokes to lead Bosco. Tommy and Valley also improved to have their best rounds of the season as well. Eric played his first match for our JV 1 team and is improving.
Cuevas-57, Ebalo-43, Fierro-53, Kim-46, Lin-47, Park-52, Terramani-51
Varsity: vs. Mayfair at Lakewood
Matthew Ingram was 4 under par after 8 holes when a hailstorm hit. We had to leave the course for safety and when the storm finished the greens were not puttable due to pieces of ice all over them. A really tough break for us because we were winning the match.
JV 2: vs. J. Serra at Los Amigos
JV 2: vs. Servite (2) at Brea Creek
SJB Golf Results: Week of 3/25
Another exciting week for the Braves. We played in, quite possibly the best high school golf tournament in the country – The Champions Invitational at the Golf Resort at Terra Lago. Past winners of the individual portion of this tournament include Ricky Fowler, Patrick Cantlay, Jordan Spieth, and Beau Hossler – all of whom are now on the PGA tour. You can find all the results by googling Champions Invitational Golf Tournament. We also had our best round at Los Coyotes C.C. in the past 4 years. In addition, four members of our golf program (Preston, John C., George, and Dante) competed this past weekend in the National High School Hockey Championship. So there was a lot happening. Here are our results for week 5.
Varsity:vs. Mayfair at Los Coyotes
As I said above the Braves had their lowest round at par 35 Los Coyotes in quite a while. Ivan and Matthew I. both shot 3 over par to lead us to another qualifying score. Marcus and Michael stepped up as well to lead us to our 4thnon-league victory.
Aguilar-38, Cabot-40, De Jesus-41, Ingram-38, Liu-46, Medina-43, Ruiz-46
JV 1:in Wilson Tournament at Recreation Park 18
We didn’t do too badly in this tournament at Recreation Park’s par 72 course. Daniel was our low scorer at 16 over par and Josh was just one behind that. Thank you to Valley who filled in at the last minute for us
Ebalo-89, Kim-88, Lin-97, Park-94, Terramani-102
JV 2:vs. Mayfair at Heartwell
We picked up a nice win at par 27 Heartwell golf course. Javi was our low scorer at 13 over par and George and Jesse were right behind him. John C. finally got to play in his first match as a Brave.
Burnett-48, Capitan-40, Chiarelli-45, Gutierrez-41, Kunkel-45, Neville-42, Smith-43
Varsity: vs. Poly at Recreation Park [18 holes]
We barely got a qualifying score at par 72 Recreation Park. This was our first 18 hole match of the year and conditions were tough because the greens had just been punched and sanded and the wind was blowing pretty hard. Scores were up but we hung in there. With an 8 over par Ivan was our low scorer and Marcus (with a 39 on the back 9) and Daniel were right behind him.
Aguilar-80, Cabot-82, De Jesus-92, Ingram-86, Liu-84, Medina-95, Ruiz-88
JV 1:vs. Poly at Los Amigos
Another nice win for our JV 1 team. We didn’t really play our best but Josh led the way at 9 over par and Preston and Dante followed closely. Gilbert and Eric both had their best rounds of the season and Eric’s was as a last minute sub for two people who could not play. We actually played a man down bur still got the win.
Cuevas-52, Ebalo-45, Moreno-52, Park-47, Salas-49, Terramani-48
JV 2:vs. Cerritos at Navy Base
At the par 31 Cruiser Course on the Navy Base we did okay and three of our guys had their best scores of the season. Luke led us with a 42 which was his best score of the season by 7 strokes!! Christian and Matt also had their best scores but it was not enough to beat Cerritos
Bode-47, Burnett-56, Capitan-45, Enriquez-52, Kunkel-42, Neville-58, Williams-61
JV 2:vs. Millikan at El Dorado
Par 36 El Dorado is long and new to our players. This tough course made it difficult for us to score well. Javi led the way at 12 over par – a pretty good score for an inexperienced player. Thanks to John B. for filling in at the last minute.
Capitan-48, Kunkel-64, Neville-58, Pool-67, Smith-55, Williams-66, Burnett-62
Varsity: 1sttwo rounds of Champions Tournament (all day)
Varsity: in Champions Invitational at Terra Lago (final round) 34th out of 40 teams
As we said above this is quite possibly the premier high school golf tournament in the country. We improved by 84 strokes over the course of the 3 rounds compared to last year, although admittedly last year’s tournament was played in a howling wind. We did not achieve our goal of breaking 1,000 but we were close. You can find detailed results by going on to the Long Beach Wilson website and looking under the golf tab or by googling the Champion’s Invitational high school golf tournament. There is a lot of information there. There were 40 teams and 240 individual golfers.
Aguilar – 80, 81, 88 = 249; Cabot – 78, 93,88 = 259; De Jesus – 87,90,91 = 268
Ingram – 86, 78, 77 = 241; Ruiz – 92, 88, 89 = 269
SJB Golf Weekly Recap - Week of April 1, 2019
A solid week for SJB golf as the varsity picked up another win and one more qualifying score for the CIF tournament. In addition our JV 2 team picked up their first league win. The varsity also got to play a practice round at the beautiful Hacienda Country Club in preparation for our individual Trinity League Championship tournament which will take place this Monday, April 8. Here are our results for week 6.
Varsity:vs. Cerritos at Los Coyotes
Our freshman, Matthew, and senior Ivan shot 3 and 4 over par respectively to help us to a close win against a good Cerritos team. Cerritos is annually one of the best local teams and this was only their 3rdloss of the season. Matthew was the medalist in the match and Ivan tied his best 9 hole round of the season
Aguilar-39, Cabot-43, De Jesus-46, Ingram-38, Liu-44, Medina-52, Ruiz-43
JV 1:vs. Cerritos at Los Amigos
With one of our top JV players out we lost by only 10 strokes. Daniel was our leader at 8 over par. Thanks to Gilbert for filling in at the last minute and allowing us to play with a full squad.
Ebalo-46, Fierro-52, Lin-55, Kim-44, Moreno-52, Salas-58, Terramani-49
Varsity:vs. Cerritos at Navy Base [18 holes]
We played pretty well and got a qualifying score but Cerritos top two players shot even par and one over and we could not match that. This was a difficult course made even more difficult by the fact that half the greens were punched and the other half were temporaries. Some of the fairways were punched as well so we did okay given the conditions. Matthew led us with an excellent two over par round and Matt Ruiz had the best 18 hole round of his Bosco career.
Aguilar-83, Cabot-82, De Jesus-95, Ingram-74, Liu-85, Medina-87, Ruiz-83
JV 2: vs. Orange Lutheran at Los Amigos
Our JV 2 team had by far their best round of the season and we picked up our first league win!! It was a true team effort as John C. led the way with an 8 over par score in only his 2ndround of the season. Jackson, Jesse, and Anthony all had their best rounds of the season and Jess and Anthony did it as last minute substitutes. Great job, guys!!
Burnett-58, Chiarelli-44, Gutierrez-57, Kunkel-55, Smith-50, Neville-55, Williams-56
JV 1: vs. Servite at Western Hills
We had a tough time at tough, par 35 Western Hills. Josh was the only one to break 50 with his 14 over par round as no one on the Braves had their best round on this day. Thanks to Trevor for filling in for this match on a moment’s notice.
Cuevas-62, Ebalo-49, Kim-53, Salas-55, Park-54, Terramani-53, Moreno-55
JV 2: vs. Los Alamitos at Los Amigos
We weren’t quite able to match yesterday’s round but we came pretty close as we continue to improve. Javi was our low scorer as he tied his best round of the season. Jesse also tied his best of the season and Luke, Ryan, and Anthony all tied their 2ndbest rounds of the season.Burnett-63, Capitan-47, Chiarelli-51, Kunkel-51, Neville-55, Pool-66, Williams-62
Week of April 8, 2019
A busy week for SJB golf as the varsity played in the Trinity League individual Championship on Monday, picked up another win on Tuesday, had a league match on Wednesday, and a trip to Mission Viejo on Thursday. We also picked up two more qualifying scores for the CIF tournament and now have the minimum required to get into the tournament. Our JV 1 team had 3 matches against very good teams and our JV 2 team had 3 matches as well, along with a victory. Here are our results for week 7.
Varsity:in League Tournament at Hacienda Country Club This was 36 holes in one day but you had to shoot an 80 or better to qualify for the 2ndround. It was also 85 degrees so it was a challenge for everyone. There were 8 players from each school in the tournament for a total of 48 and the top 9 would qualify for the CIF individual tournament. Hacienda is a very difficult par 71 course and only one player finished the day under par. Matthew was our only player to qualify for the 2ndround and some players were not able to finish the 2ndround due to darkness. We did our best but struggled with the difficulty of the Country Club.
Aguilar-83, Cabot-83, De Jesus-93, Ebalo-100, Ingram-80, Liu-92, Medina-98, Ruiz-94
JV 1:vs. Wilson at Recreation Park
This was a new course for some of our players but we did okay here. Preston was our low man at 9 under par in his 2ndbest round of the season. Trevor tied his best round of the season, Tommy (in only his 5thround of the season) and Eric had their best rounds of the season and Javi did well in only his 2ndJV 1 match this season.
Capitan-49, Cuevas-51, Fierro-49, Lin-52, Moreno-47, Park-45, Salas-54, Terramani-50
Varsity:vs. Mayfair at Los Amigos
We had a late tee time and played this round in a driving wind but continued our success in non-league matches. Marcus had our best round of the season at one under par and Michael had his best round of the season which was amazing given the wind conditions. Unfortunately, Mayfair only had 5 players so it made it difficult for them but they were very sportsmanlike about it. Considering the wind we had a good team score

JV 1:vs. Mater Dei at Willowick
At par 35 Willowick, Mater Dei shot better than most varsity teams on this day. Daniel led us by tying his best round of the season, Josh tied his 2ndbest and Dante had his 3rdbest.
Ebalo-44, Kim-42, Moreno-52, Park-49, Salas-54, Terramani-44
JV 2:vs. J. Serra at Los Amigos
Javi had his best round of the year at 10 over as our young guys continue to improve. As we said above the wind conditions made it difficult but we hung in there.

Varsity: vs. Mater Dei at Los Amigos
In another howling windstorm Mater Dei shot two over par as a team and we did well but could not match them. Ivan led us with his best round of the season at 2 over, Matthew was 3 over and Matt Ruiz had his best round of the season at 4 over par. Emmanuel had tied his best 9 hole round and thanks to Daniel who joined us for his first varsity match of the season.
Aguilar-38, Cabot-41, De Jesus-47, Ingram-39, Kim-45, Medina-44, Ruiz-40
JV 2: vs. Whittier Christian at Los Amigos
Whittier Christian showed up instead of just calling it in which we appreciated. And we ended up shooting our best round of the season by far. J John C., and Javi were our low players at 11 over and Jackson, Ryan, and John B. had their best scores of the season. Ryan had his best by 4 strokes and John had his first round of less than 20 over par.

Varsity:vs. J. Serra at Arroyo Trabuco
On par 36 Arroyo Trabuco, a course where we have traditionally struggled (there are hazards on every hole) we did not do as well as we could have today. Matthew led us at 3 over par. Thank you to Daniel and Josh who came up to help us as two of our players were missing on this day.

JV 1:vs. J. Serra at Arroyo Trabuco
It really hurt us that we only had 5 players on this day due to a number of golfers not being able to play on this day. That means we had to count every score on this difficult course. Dante was our low man today at 11 over. John C. played his first JV 1 match of the year and Gilbert lowered his average on every round this week.
Chiarelli-65, Cuevas-52, Park-53, Salas-54, Terramani-47
JV 2: vs. Mater Dei at Los Amigos
We had another good round for us, especially considering we were playing one golfer short due to players missing, but not enough to beat Mater Dei. Javi and Jackson both had their best rounds of the season playing bogey golf to lead us. George had his 2ndbest round of the season and Jesse lowered his stroke average every day this week.
