Marian Day

Dear Parents,

This Thursday, April 26, 2018, we will be celebrating an important day in our Catholic Faith, Marian Day. It is a day in which we honor our Blessed Mother, the Virgin Mary. It is a day that we join together in prayer, community, and games.  The Blessed Mother is integral person in our Salesian tradition. We honor the Blessed Mother as Mary Help of Christians, an icon for the Salesian communities all around the world.

Typically many Christian communities, select a day in May to celebrate her, in being the mother of Jesus, and a patron for the Catholic world.  The Bosco student tradition is to celebrate this day in fellowship outside of our typical day of class through a special mass dedicated to Mary Help of Christians, and several festivities including a faculty vs. student softball game! There will be good food, good times, and great memories to make.

It is our goal to have 100% attendance, not because of a school attendance requirement, but as an acknowledgement and respect of our Blessed Mother. Don Bosco gave his entire life to the mission and journey of every young person. He lived his life in complete dedication for the welfare of young people. In the word of our founder "Love, honor, and serve Mary and strive to make others do likewise. A son who has rendered homage to this heavenly Mother not only will not be lost, but may also aspire to a shining crown."

Please make sure that you do everything possible for your son to attend, not to worry about school, have fun, and enjoy the day as a young man in our Salesian Family. Dismissal will be at 12:30pm. Thank you!

God Bless,

The St. John Bosco Community
