Principal's Bulletin

back to school

Dear Bosco Family,

Thank you for a smooth start to our spring semester.  We begin this semester with 860 Braves and are looking forward to graduating a class of 213.  Please keep the following in mind as we enjoy another great week.

Raincoats!

As we welcome the much needed rain, please remind your son(s) to bring an umbrella to school.  A hooded sweatshirt or hat will not suffice unless it is water repellent.  We want to ensure that all students do their best to stay dry, avoid getting sick, and avoid spreading germs.  Students will be able to take cover indoors for most of the school day, but may not be able to avoid the rain when making their way to classes.

Student Affairs

Please note that St. John Bosco High School has a school wide drug screening program.  The emphasis of our program is placed on a pro-active approach in maintaining a drug free school. This random testing program is designed to create a safe, drug-free environment for our school community and to assist in getting help when needed.  The program implements a variety of methods to ensure a drug free school such as random testing, the use of a detection K-9, or random searches. This will occur at random times this semester. Further information can be found on page 29 of the Student Parent Guide

LATE START WEDNESDAY

The Wednesday will be the first late start of the year. Several common areas of the school will be open to welcome students starting as early as 6:30am. Students can report to the Learning Commons, Oratory, MPR, Atrium, and several common areas on campus to prepare for the day.   Bus pick up times will not change.

AP Exam Fees

AP classes are considered honors courses, with added weight to a student's grade point average. It is imperative that students who participate in this program are fully committed to the course rigor and expectations.  Students enrolled in AP courses are expected to take the AP exam for these courses in May and families will be charged for the costs associated with them on their student account. In addition to the GPA increase, students that pass the AP exam of the AP course that they are taking having the opportunity to earn college credit.

Fees will be billed through the student's FACTS tuition account.  Fees will be billed and due by March 1, however, early payments can be applied.  Fees will not be refunded for any reason including but not limited to: transferring out of class any reason, leaving the school, or being removed from the class due to disciplinary, attendance, or academic reasons.
