August 6, 2018 Principal's Bulletin Welcome to the 2019-2020 Academic School Year!
Last week, the campus welcomed back our faculty & staff to launch the year. We had an opportunity to pray, reflect, fellowship, professionally develop, and prepare to welcome your sons back for a great year. We reflected on the approach of our founder St. John Bosco to center ourselves on how we approach student learning differently: to practice a tradition of innovation; to consider the world's constant change; to create an environment where the young learn (school); reflect (church); belong (home); and celebrate (playground). Ultimately, our goal is to lead our students to discover their god given vocation, where their talents meet the world's needs, and form them to be better versions of themselves.
In the spirit of growth and innovation, we are excited to introduce: a new curriculum for our beginning music students that will incorporate music production, recording, and integrate the arts with technology; several new courses (Faith, Film, Media, and Literature, History of Los Angeles, Sociology, Popular Music, AP Computer Science A); a new academic support period; a new learning management system, Schoology, that will serve as the hub for all courses, grades, assignments, calendars, and communication; and the implementation of the Brave Student/Parent calendar just to name a few.
Google & The Brave Calendar All students are provided a Google Apps account that will be utilized to access the school calendar, cloud file system, email, learning management system (Schoology), and many more applications. Students should have received their login information recently. For any assistance retrieving lost information, please contact our registrar here. Rubi can also be reached at extension 511.
As we prepare for the first week of school, please keep the following in mind:
Hair and Grooming and Uniform We are asking that all students be in compliance the first day of school which includes the following:
We ask for everyone's cooperation as we begin the school year and assure that your child is in uniform and grooming expectation as they start the school year. Please refer to the Student/Parent Guide for any questions. Any student not in compliance will not be allowed to attend class, for any assistance please see Mr. Jaramillo, Vice Principal of Student Affairs, or the Deans: Mr. Masciel or Mrs. Hunt.
