November 12, 2019 Parent Survey Dear Parents & Guardians,
Did you know that SJB students are sleeping less hours per night on average than recommended by sleep research? Did you know that 83% of our students reported that they sleep at night with their cell phones in their rooms? These are just some of the statistics collected from our students in the recent survey administered to them from our Stanford University Challenge Success team. The next phase of data collection starts today!
Survey findings can help schools make data-driven policy and practice decisions that improve student well-being and engagement with learning. For instance, some schools have used survey results to revise homework policies, change schedules, provide student and parent workshops on sleep and physical health, and revise their honor codes. Schools know that parents have concerns, need their voices heard, and want to be a part of the solution for their students. How can we work together with parents to facilitate more sleep for our growing young men? Research shows that well balanced students have better success in college and beyond. Parent Survey results can be especially powerful when combined with data collected from the Student Survey and can help drive parent education and school improvement efforts.
We ask all parents to please take some time to provide your answers on the following survey. Click here to get started. Once the data is collected, we will analyze it with our Challenge Success team and report back.
Thank you, Dr. De Larkin Principal
