Coaching Staff

Steven Lo is entering his seventh year as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at St. John Bosco High School. Coach Lo earned a BA and MA degree in Kinesiology from San José State University where he also served as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach for two years. This is Coach Lo’s 22nd year coaching football at the varsity level.

A graduate of Gilroy High School, where he played football and was a member of its wrestling team, Coach Lo spent eight years coaching football at his alma mater. For five seasons prior to joining the Bosco staff, Coach Lo served as offensive coordinator and assistant head coach at Junípero Serra High School in San Mateo helping the team capture the first CIF state title in school history, back to back Northern California regional titles, three section titles, and four league titles. Coach Lo also serves as the head strength and conditioning coach for the Braves. He resides in Lakewood, loves to travel and has been happily married for 10 years to his amazing wife Christina. Coach Lo is the proud father of three year old Austin and a proud National Champion!

James is a 1997 graduate of El Toro High School where he was an All-County offensive Lineman for the Chargers. After graduation, Coach Adams attended the University of Oregon on a full athletic scholarship where he started four years for the Ducks. Coach Adams is beginning his 22nd year of coaching and his fifteenth with the Braves. He brings an extensive amount of experience to the Bosco football program, which includes a CIF Championship as a player, two Offensive Lineman of the Year awards while at Oregon, an Honorable Mention in the Pac-10 and participated in three National Bowl games (Sun, Holiday and BCS Fiesta Bowl). In addition to his coaching duties, Coach Adams is a teacher at SJB and heads up the strength and conditioning program with Coach Lo.

Coach Arteaga graduated from La Puente HS in 1996 where he lettered in 3 years. He was named first-team All-CIF Southern Section his senior year and was selected to play in the 1996 California-Hawaii All-Start game. Upon graduating, he enlisted in the military where he served for 9 years. As a Navy Corpsman, he completed two combat tours in Iraq with the US Marines. While in the military, he continued his football playing career in the Armed Forces Football League (AFFL) for 4 years from 1998-2002 as a defensive end. Coach Arteaga currently holds a BA in Sports Management and is working on his Masters in Sports Law. He has been an offensive line coach in the Trinity League for over 10 years. Coach Arteaga and his wife Desiree have three children, Janai, Noah and Jaxson.

Nate Munson is a 2002 graduate of Wheaton Warrenville South High School in Illinois. With eighteen years of coaching experience, and a philosophy to “never give up,” he once again joins the SJB staff in coaching the tight ends and wide receivers at the varsity level. Nate is a 2006 graduate of Azusa Pacific University where he played wide receiver for four years. Coming to California did not take away his passion for his Chicago Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawks! Coach Munson is also the head JV football coach. He recently coached Camryn O'Bannon to a State Title in the Triple Jump in 2022. Nate has been married to his wife Anita for 15 years, has a daughter Maren, and resides in Huntington Beach.

Excited to have Geoff McArthur, one of the top wide receivers in Cal Football history, as a member of our staff. A graduate of Palisades HS, McArthur played wide receiver and led the nation in yards with 1779, 91 receptions and 3o TD's! Coach McArthur is Cal’s all-time leader with 3,188 receiving yards, shares all-time lead in 100-yard receiving games (11) and is second with 202 career receptions. In 2004, he was on the Heisman pre-season watch list and was voted the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame’s College Male Athlete of the Year. McArthur continues to hold Cal’s season receiving yards mark with 1,504 in 2003. He holds Cal single-game record for most receptions (16) and is second in receiving yards (245), picking up both in the 2003 Big Game. Coach was a first team All American and earned his BA in Social Welfare from Cal Berkeley. He earned his Masters in Education from Lindenwood University. Coach McArthur is proud to have owned and operated an all-boys prep boarding school in Ontario, Canada prior to teaching in the Santa Monica area. Currently, he is the Associate Dean of Students here at SJB and teaches Geography and Religion as well. Coach McArthur's hobbies include traveling, cooking and playing golf. He is engaged to be married to the lovely Shenae Steen and resides in Upland.

Coach Drew Aumavae is entering his second year as an Offensive Assistant at St John Bosco High School. Coach Drew earned a BA degree in Business Economics with a minor in Marketing from Eastern Oregon University where he played football. Coach Drew is a highly regarded high school football coach with over 20 years of experience in coaching and training quarterbacks. He has served as an Offensive Coordinator and Quarterback Coach for multiple high schools across the nation, including St Johns College HS (Washington D.C.), North Point HS (Maryland), Timpview HS (Utah) and Leone HS (American Samoa). Coach Drew is also a distinguished member of The Elite 11 coaching staff. In addition to his coaching endeavors, has been involved in various college and high school senior bowl games, including the Hula Bowl and the Samoa Bowl, where he served as the Director of Football Operations and the Director of Player Personnel, respectively. He has also contributed as a consultant for bowl games such as the Indigenous Bowl and the Polynesian All-American Bowl, where he has been a part of the Bowl Game Board of Directors and the Player Personnel & Team Liaison Committee. Coach Drew has dutifully served 8 years in the United States Air Force and currently resides in Wilmington.

Charles Edward Wallace was the former head coach and offensive coordinator in the Braves Freshman Football program. Currently, he assumes the roll of Running Backs Coach at the Varsity level.  Coach Wallace graduated from Workman High School in 1996 where he was a 3 year varsity letterman. Coach Wallace played football at Mt. San Antonio College and El Camino College before attending DeVry University. He brings 24 years of coaching experience to our staff. In addition to his coaching duties, Coach Wallace is an integral part of Next Level Prospect, a non-profit aimed at assisting young men in Southern California to attain their dreams of playing at the next level. Currently, he is a contractor for the IT Department at Cathay Bank. He lives in La Puente, has been married for 24 years and has 3 amazing boys.

Jake graduated from SJB in 1997 where he played varsity football and baseball for four years. Coach Negro was an All-CIF Linebacker for the Braves during his senior season as he helped lead the Braves to the CIF Quarterfinal round of the playoffs. After graduating from Bosco, Coach Negro played two seasons at Saddleback College. Coach Negro holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies from California State University, Dominguez Hills. He has also coached at Trabuco Hills High School and helped lead the Mustangs to the CIF Southwest Division Championship Game against La Mirada at Anaheim Stadium in 2009. Coach Negro works with the Special Teams unit at the Varsity Level. In addition to his coaching duties, he teaches Algebra and Geometry at Bosco. This year, he has assumed the position of Head Tennis Coach! Coach Negro is married to Roni and they reside in Lakewood.

Johnathan Reyes is the Director of Marketing and Youth/High School Development coach at 3DQB. He received his Bachelors in Kinesiology Exercise Science from Cal State Dominguez Hills in 2020 . Throughout his schooling, Johnathan has coached Football (High-School) in the Los Angeles and Orange County area High Schools for the past 7 years. He is currently serving as the Program Quarterbacks coach at SJB. From 2011- 2015, Johnathan served his time with the United States Marine Corps as an infantryman. Deploying to Afghanistan in 2012 -2013 with 3rd Battalion 9th Marines. Over the last 6 years, he has worked with many of the Elite Youth Quarterbacks in the SoCal area and some of the top high school and college quarterbacks. His experience and mentorship from his colleagues have helped him along the way.

Chris King is entering his fifteenth year as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at St. John Bosco High School. Coach King has been coaching high school football for 32 years. Coach King is an Esperanza High School graduate and is the sole owner of a real estate appraisal company located in Orange County.

In the offseason, Coach King speaks at coaching conventions across the nation and has been a guest coach at numerous universities. During the offseason, he travels the country to learn from different football programs, such as Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and Oregon. Chris King has coached on seven CIF championship teams over his 32 year coaching career, 4 state Championships and 3 National Championships. Coach King resides in San Dimas and is supported by his long time girlfriend, Jenn.

Paul Diaz is in his 27th year coaching varsity football for St. John Bosco High School. Paul is a 1984 Bosco graduate. After graduation, Coach Diaz received his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from California State University, Fullerton with an emphasis in Sports Psychology. Coach Diaz is a former teacher in the science department and is the current plant manager for SJB. He was a long time shot put coach where he saw his athletes also excel at the college level. Coach Diaz and his wife Sandra are parents to daughter Danielle, a graduate from Cal Poly Pomona, and to thirteen year old Makena. Paul is a 4- time CIF and 3-time National Champion!

A graduate of San Pedro High School, class of 2000, Coach Bullock is an assistant to the linebacker coaching staff at the Varsity level. Coach Bullock played football at El Camino College. Prior to that, he was on the 1996-97 back to back LA City 4A Championship teams, beating Woodland Hills Taft in the Coliseum. In addition to coaching for the Braves, Coach Bullock coaches Team Aiga Stars Elite 7 v 7. Coach Bullock is a crane mechanic at the Port of Long Beach. He has four children, Payge SJHS '25, Braelyn, Victory, and Milanya. When you meet Coach Bullock, you’ll know he loves life and is living the dream! In addition to coaching for the Braves, Coach Bullock assists in the NCAA recruitment process.

Hailing from the city of Brea, Travis Robinson brings 27 years of coaching experience to St. John Bosco Football. He will be coaching the linebackers at the Varsity Level. Coach Robinson is a 1995 graduate of Brea Olinda HS where he earned First Team All-League and First Team All-County honors. He was also named the Most Valuable Player of his high school program. After earning his Associates Degree from Fullerton College, Coach Robinson transitioned immediately into the workforce. He currently owns his own business. In his third year at St. John Bosco, Coach Robinson wants to put players in position to be successful on and off the football field. He is excited to coach alongside his good friend and former student of the game, Coach Trudell. Coach Robinson is married to his beautiful wife Jaime and has two children; Brayden and Payton. Besides football, he is an avid fisherman, camper and golfer.

Darnell Lacy is a graduate of Serra High School and is excited to enter his 3rd year coaching the Defensive Backs on the Varsity level. Coach Lacy comes directly from coaching at the junior college level. He spent 10 years on staff at Santa Monica College, Harbor College, Golden West and most recently at Long Beach City College, where he spent 5 seasons. After playing Free Safety from 1996-1999 at the University of Southern California, he went on to play Arena Football. From 2002-2005 he spent time with the Central Valley Coyotes and the San Diego Riptide. His coaching philosophy incorporates preparation, effort, speed, toughness and execution. Coach Lacy earned his Sociology degree from National University and is a certified Home Inspector. He loves to spend time with his family, watch sports and fly drones. He currently resides in Hawthorne, is married to his wife Cindy and has three children; Claryssa, Darnell Jr. and Brianna

Entering his twelfth year with Bosco as a Defensive Backs coach, Jonathan brings 28 years of coaching experience with him and was a member of the 2008 coaching staff for the CIF Runner-ups, Tesoro HS. He is a ‘93 graduate of Fountain Valley High School where he was a two year Varsity letterman. Jonathan played college football at Golden West JC and earned his B.A. Degree in History from National University. Jonathan’s coaching philosophy is simple, to use football as a tool to bring out the best in young men, to be better players and people. Along with his coaching duties, Coach Hall is the Athletic Coordinator within the Athletics Department and the staff liaison for collegiate recruiting, helping our players get to the next level. Jonathan is married to his beautiful wife, Julie, and resides in Huntington Beach.

Coach Kyle Trudell is in his 6th year at Bosco coaching the Defensive Backs with Coach King and Coach Hall. He works closely with Coach Adams and Coach Lo in our Strength and Conditioning program. He attended Cal Poly Pomona where he earned his degree in History and received his Masters in Education from the National University. Coach Trudell played football for 8 years, 4 of those years in High School where he graduated in 2001 from Brea Olinda. He was the former Head Football Coach at California High School in Whittier where he currently teaches Biology. Coach Trudell loves camping, fishing, and anything with his family. He is married to Kristen and has 3 children: Everett (13), Emma (11), and Wyatt (8).

Shiloah Te'o hails from Laie, Hawaii and graduated from Kahuku High School in 2008. While there, Coach Te'o helped his high school team win 2 State Championships in 2005, and 2006. In his senior season, he was named OIA Defensive Player Of The Year for the state of Hawaii. As a true freshman at BYU, Coach Te'o played in every game and was named Special Teams MVP. The year was highlighted when BYU took down Oklahoma University who was the #2 team in the nation, in the very first game ever played in the Dallas Cowboys new stadium. Coach Te'o transferred to Oregon State and during that redshirt year, he was voted Scout Team Defensive Player of the Year and eventually graduated from Oregon State with a Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Studies. Coach Te'o moved home to Hawaii and started coaching at Kahuku High School.

In 2016, Coach moved to California and worked with the IE Ducks and eventually joined the football staff at JSerra High School in San Juan Capistrano. He is entering his second year as the Head Freshman coach. Coach Te'o is married to Alexis, and is a father of five.
