Service Hours

Through our Parent Service Hour Program, you’ll not only support school events and initiatives, but also form lasting friendships and memories with other families.

Our Parent Service Hour Program is an opportunity to share your time, talents, and resources while building lasting friendships and memories with other Bosco families. Whether you’re helping at an event, donating goods, or working quietly behind the scenes, every effort you give strengthens the family spirit that makes Bosco so special. 

Service Hour Requirements

  • Freshman parents will participate in the Bingo Parent Service Program to satisfy their service hours. 
  • Sophomore, junior and senior parents are required to complete 30 hours of service per student, per year. Hours will be logged via Track It Forward. (Second semester transfer families will be required to complete 15 hours.) 
  • The service hour cycle runs April 1 – March 31 each year.
  • Hours do not roll over to the following year.
  • Hours completed after March 31 count toward the next school year.

Freshman Parents: Bingo

The Bosco Bingo program is a long-standing fundraiser, and its proceeds are essential in supporting school operations. All freshman families are expected to complete their service hours by working five Saturday evenings at Bingo.

10th-12th Grade Parents: Track It Forward

We use Track it Forward to make logging and tracking hours simple. Families are responsible for tracking and logging their own hours. There is one Track it Forward account per family and you will use this account during the duration of your time at Bosco.  If you have not received an email invitation to create a Track It Forward account, please contact Diane Whitten at DWhitten@bosco.org. 
 
Through Track it Forward, you can:
 
  • Log completed hours
  • View your total hours and milestone progress
  • Sign up for upcoming events
  • Track your volunteer history
Please note that you must log your hours in Track It Forward in order for those hours to count toward your annual requirement. If you need help navigating how to log your hours, download our guides below.
 
 

2026-2027 Track It Forward Updates: What You Need to Know

  • A single submission can no longer cover a large block of time (for example, 30 hours) — each entry must reflect the hours actually served at that specific event.
  • When completing the form, please input the specific service you performed, and if you're claiming hours through a donation, upload a receipt and include a note describing what was donated.
  • The verification section of the log requires you to enter 4 pieces of information: the Organization, the Organizer, the Organizer's Bosco email, and the Bosco school phone number. For example: Mr. Esparza, Student Affairs, sesparza@bosco.org, 562-920-1734. The first time you log hours for a given organization, you'll need to type this information in yourself — after that, it will automatically populate for future submissions to that same organization.
  • Using the app (Android or Apple phone/tablet): You have the opportunity to request a digital signature from your onsite supervisor at the time of service — we strongly encourage this option, as that signature serves as your final verification.
  • Using a browser (desktop or mobile web): The signature feature isn't available. Instead, your onsite supervisor will receive an email asking them to verify and save your submitted hours. A geotag or photo of you at the event is optional and not required for verification.
  • Donation credit: $40 in gift cards = 1 service hour, or $40 in donated goods = 1 service hour. Either must be delivered to the front office.
  • In January, the Business Office will email you with your completed hours and what's still owed before the March 31, 2027 deadline. 

Donating Goods for Service Hours

We understand that your time is valuable and schedules can be tight. That’s why families in grades 10-12 can earn service hour credit for donated goods:
 
  • $40 in gift cards = 1 service hour (must be delivered to the front office)
  • $40 in donated items = 1 service hour (must be delivered to the front office)
Please upload your receipt(s) to Track It Forward when submitting donation hours.

Fees for Incomplete or Missed Hours

  • Any incomplete hours at the end of the cycle are billed at $40/hour to your tuition account.
  • If you accept a service hour assignment but cannot attend, please notify us at least 3 business days in advance. A no-show without notice results in a $25/hour fee (this does not reduce your 30-hour obligation).
