AGREEMENT CONDITIONS: As a condition for my attendance of Prom, which is to be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at The Queen Mary (1126 Queens Hwy, Long Beach, CA 90802), I agree to adhere to all regulations as stipulated below. Should my behavior, or that of my guest, bring negative attention to Saint Joseph High School/St. John Bosco High School, or violate any school policies, I understand that I am subject to disciplinary measures as stated in the Student/Parent Handbook and that I will forfeit my privilege of attending Prom.
REGULATIONS:
1. Anyone dressed inappropriately will be asked to leave. There will be no refund.
2. APPROPRIATE ATTIRE: Please note: Saint Joseph/St. John Bosco reserves the right to decide if attire is deemed appropriate or not. Students who do not follow the guidelines for the Prom attire will be asked to leave; there will be no exceptions. No refunds will be given.
2a. FOR HER: Appropriate dress for women is formal wear, long formal dresses only. Sleeveless, Spaghetti straps, one-shoulder, strapless, and off-the-shoulder dresses are permitted. However, the dress must be tasteful and appropriate in nature.
The length of dresses must be floor length.
Pantsuits are allowed but must be worn with a jacket to remain formal in style (must be approved by the DAs)
Deep v-neck or excessive cleavage, excessive bare skin, midriffs, low back, and/or slits higher than 4” above the knee are NOT allowed. Dress slits higher than 4" must be sewn closed. Safety pins are not allowed.
Jeans are never allowed at formal dances.
Tennis shoes are not allowed.
Hair with excessive streaks or highlights or of unnatural hair color will not be permitted.
2b. FOR HIM: Gentlemen must be in a dress shirt with tie or bow tie or wear a mandarin collar shirt. A suit is an option. Dress shoes or nice casual shoes, groomed facial hair, only one stud earring per ear. Suits, zoot suits, mismatched patterns or bright obnoxious colors, tennis shoes, topsiders, boots, earrings/piercings, tattoos, and informal hats will not be tolerated and will be cause for refusal of admittance to the Prom. Outrageous hairstyles and colors are also prohibited. Earrings will be confiscated and returned at the end of the Prom. Please refer to the memorandum previously received for further details.
3. Formal dress will be retained throughout the evening. Removal of shoes, ties, or untucked shirts will not be allowed. Changing of shoes to slippers or flip flops will not be allowed.
4. In keeping with the formal occasion, proper behavior is expected. Toys, noisemakers, pranks, and throwing objects are not acceptable.
5. Inappropriate dancing or public displays of affection will not be tolerated. Continuous offenses will result in dismissal from the dance with no refund.
6. All purses and jackets will be searched at the time of check-in
7. Should the school suspect a person to be in possession of, or under the influence of illegal drugs and/or alcohol, he/she may be searched or breathalyzed. If deemed by Administration, the student(s) and/or guest(s) will be escorted from the Prom and law enforcement authorities will be contacted. Smoking is not allowed. All students are subject to disciplinary action as stated in the Student/Parent Handbook, which may include forfeiture of attending Grad Nite and possibly forfeiture of participation in graduation ceremonies. No refund of tickets will be given.
8. Everyone attending the Prom should have their bid and I.D. at the time of admittance.
9. Prom begins at 6:30 pm. Each student and their guest must check-in at the door prior to entrance. Check in begins at TBD. Should the student and/or their guest arrive after the set arrival time of 8:00 pm, admittance may be refused and parents/guardians will be contacted. If a student does not arrive at all, parents/guardians will be contacted. Students will not be allowed to leave Prom before the dismissal time of 10:30 pm once a student leaves, they will not be readmitted.
10. Any questions about dress standards should be referred to your grade-level DA (SJHS).
11. Any questions about dance regulations or the agreement conditions should be referred to Mr. Anthony Castaneda, Director of Activities (SJHS), or Mr. Donminic Ellison, Director of Activities (SJB).
12. Students who plan to attend Prom with a guest other than a Saint Joseph/St. John Bosco student must secure a guest pass consent form. All guests must be in high school or have graduated from high school no earlier than 2025.
13. Any electronic devices or personal property brought to the dance are the sole responsibility of the student attending the dance. Saint Joseph High School/St. John Bosco and its staff are not responsible or liable for lost or stolen items.
14. All finances must be paid for before the dance.
15. Students must attend school the day before (minimum of two full blocks), Friday, May 1.
