Retreats

Freshman Retreat | February 18, 2022

Freshman students will be called to consider how their intentions, words, and actions impact their own lives and the lives of others.  It is developed around the idea of friendship with self, others, and God, and the importance of community building.

Sophomore Retreat | November 19, 2021

Sophomore students will have the opportunity to take some time out from their busy schedules to reflect on the important relationships in their lives and how patience, understanding, and forgiveness strengthen those ties. The sessions offer group discussions, community building activities, prayer experiences, and time to reflect.

Junior Retreat | March 18, 2022

During this retreat, Junior students are given a chance to reflect upon finding the sacred in their day to day lives.  The sessions offer retreat talks led by Moderators and Campus Ministry delegates on the topics of prayer, faith, integrity and service.

Kairos Retreats

According to the Apostle Paul and the early Church fathers, there was one special moment in history when circumstances allowed for the coming of Jesus Christ. Saint Paul spoke of this moment as the "kairos," a Greek word implying a time that is “ripe, mature, or prepared."

The Kairos retreat is offered to St. John Bosco High School Seniors because they are, indeed, ripe, mature and prepared to enter the next phase of their faith development. Kairos is a unique moment in that development, not only for the candidates, but for the entire school community. During Kairos, the retreatants look carefully at themselves, their relationships with others, and their relationship with God.

The central theme of the retreat is God’s love for us – a love that is made visible through the people in our lives who love us. As a Salesian community, the Kairos retreat program has become an integral part of our Salesian identity and is one of our most cherished acts of spiritual accompaniment. Each year, St. John Bosco High School offers three Kairos retreat opportunities, one during the fall semester and two during the spring semester. The three retreats can accommodate a total of 135 students.
